Animal Waste

A reminder that the City of Alexandria has an ordinance against animal waste.Specifically, dogs should not be permitted to urinate or defecate in front of any unit in the Terrace Townhouses. Animal waste deposited in mulched common areas should be removed immediately.

Nearly 20 percent of our condos are occupied by school-aged children, please be considerate. Additionally, one of the most common forms of disease transmission between dogs is through fecal matter. Animal waste may contain harmful organisms such as giardia, roundworms, salmonella and E. coli that can be transmitted to humans and other animals.

Please do not allow your pets to urinate on grass. The failure to clean up after pets results in unsanitary conditions that can last years. Furthermore, animal waste damages grass, flowers, bushes and soil.  Even small amounts will result in lawn bum or dead patches. Bum areas require costly reseeding or re-sodding.
