Snow Removal

The Association endeavors to ensure a safe environment at all times.  Please keep in mind that weather can be unpredictable and conditions can sometimes be treacherous, resulting in unforeseen delays in personnel or equipment reaching our community.  Your understanding and patience is appreciated.

Parking Lots

  • Snow plowing will commence once snow accumulation reaches two inches (2”) or as weather conditions dictate.
  • Ice melting products will be applied to the roadways & parking lots as needed, regardless of the amount of snow accumulation.
  • Only the entrance ways & driving lanes will be plowed; residents are responsible for shoveling out their vehicles.
  • Snow will be plowed to the front of the dumpsters and to the end of the Kenwood parking lot by Burke & Herbert Bank.
    • Inconveniently, there are no other locations to deposit large amounts of snow when needed.
    • The Association will have snow piles removed from these areas as warranted and when conditions clear – subject to the availability of front-end loaders and dump trucks, which are usually in high demand during heavy snowstorms.
  • When over six inches (6”) of snow is forecast, the priority will be to keep the driving lanes open for emergency access.

Sidewalks, Stairs and Unit Entrances

  • Sidewalks, stairs, and unit entrances and stoops will be cleared by the use of snow shovels and/or snow blowers once snow accumulation reaches three inches (3”).
  • During heavy snowstorms, our vendor will use discretion on when and how often to clear sidewalks until snow accumulation has stopped.
  • Ice melting products will be applied as needed and based on weather forecasts.
  • Residents are permitted to shovel their sidewalks as desired but should refrain from using salt products which cause permanent damage to sidewalks and also kill grass.

Rooftops & Gutters

  • The Association will ensure rooftops & gutters are cleared of snow and ice when conditions warrant.

Other Issues

  • Always use extreme caution when outside in inclement weather!
  • Please be mindful of elderly neighbors and please offer a helping hand to those who may be in need of assistance.
  • Per Association rules, please do not store or leave snow shovels outside your units.
